The guns may have fallen silent 100 years ago, but the effect of World War I is still etched on the memories.

Hundreds of thousands of soldiers had lost their lives in Verdun during one of the history's bloodiest battles.

The front lines have now moved from Europe to places such as Yemen and Syria. But the lessons learned from the "war to end all wars" still apply.
