World sent prayers to Denmark’s Christian Eriksen after he collapsed during EURO 2020 match

A horrifying scene unfolded during Saturday’s EURO 2020 match between Denmark and Finland when Danish star Christian Eriksen collapsed during the game and was unresponsive on the field.

Eriksen fell to the ground near the end of the first half, where he was quickly surrounded by medical personnel that worked on him for about 10 minutes, including giving him CPR, the Associated Press reported. He was taken off on a stretcher — to a loud ovation.

Eriksen’s teammates formed a protective wall around him to shield him from the cameras that continued to film the scene unfolding in real time, including shots of his crying wife, which left many outraged.

Denmark’s match against Finland has since been suspended.

The sports world reacted in real time as they watched the events unfold in real time during the broadcast. The reaction was, as you can imagine, horrified and devastated as the world awaited news of Eriksen’s status.

According to the UEFA, Eriksen has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilized.
