'World's tightest millionaire' says she eats cat food and never buys anything new

A woman who claims to be the 'world's cheapest multi-millionaire' has said she never spends a penny more than she has to and even eats cat food to keep her bills low.

With a net worth of some £3.9million ($5.3m) Aimee Elizabeth says she refuses to go a single penny over her £730, or $1,000 monthly budget.

The 50-year-old, from Las Vegas, who appeared on TLC's Extreme Cheapskates, says she has figured out how to save money in every single aspect of her day-to-day life.

In a video she said: “I keep my water heater turned off, I need 22 minutes to heat it up enough to get a shower so I turn it on every morning when I get up.

“I set it for 22 minutes so I know exactly when my shower’s ready because God forbid I waste another minute on that water heater.”

Aimee claimed that even with such a simple measure it would save her £58, or $80, a month, and she went on to say that she saves a staggering £146,000 each year by just not buying anything that's new.

Also part of her thrifty routine is using the same old sponge until it's 'falling apart and rotting' and only using one knife which she will not wash up using water.

Her home was also left to her by her ex-husband Michael following a divorce and he volunteers to clean up for free so that Aimee can put away another £292 on saved cleaning costs each month.

She calls the arrangement a 'win, win, win' as it provides her ex with free exercise and keeps him in shape.

In an extreme example she also eats cat food cans.

When leaving for her regular business trips to LA she drives four hours each way in her 17-year-old car in order to save on the £182 ($250) air fare.

When the car is faced with a problem and after being told by mechanics to fork out the money for repairs instead of sinking the cash into her car she instead headed to the airport and hitched a free ride from a pilot.

She said: “When I go to these extremes I think people see it and it annoys a lot of them but I don’t care.

“It saves money."
