The World's Smallest Whisky Bar opens in a former police box

The World’s Smallest Whisky Bar has opened inside a classic old police box – with just enough room for two punters. The tiny pop-up bar in Edinburgh has a floor space of just 1.978sqm, making it the world’s smallest – with just three whiskies to choose from.

Independent bottler Cask 88 transformed one of Edinburgh’s 142 former police boxes into the custom-built bar on Princes Street. Guests will have just 10 minutes inside the bar to sample the single cask Scotch whiskies on offer from barman, Jamie Harbour, who has been dubbed PC Peat.

He will give guests an introduction to the three whiskies available, so they can choose which they would like to try. With around 500,000 visitors deciding on the city for the Fringe, the bar will offer festival goers a tiny slice of whisky heaven.

The experience will give punters the chance to immortalise their name as one of the bar’s first guests in a bespoke visitors’ book.

Cask 88 head of sales, Carl Johnstone, said: “Cask 88 opening the smallest whisky bar in the world fits ideally with the type of brand it is. A single cask of whisky produces a very small run of around 200 to 500 bottles - it’s the very definition of small batch.

“But at Cask 88, we appreciate that small things can be perfectly formed, and unique in their own way. A visit to our bar will give you a great insight into who we are and the wonderful world of single cask whisky.”

The bar is open from 12pm to 7pm daily until August 28.
