World's oldest man Bob Weighton dies from cancer aged 112

The world's oldest man has died aged 112 after a battle with cancer.

Bob Weighton, from Alton in Hampshire, took the Guinness World Records title last month following the death of Japanese 112-year-old Chitetsu Watanabe.

Bob was a teacher and an engineer before his retirement.

His family confirmed his death to PA this afternoon.

The supercentenarian marked his 111th birthday with a big bash at his retirement village last year but his most recent celebrations were more subdued due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Bob Weighton took up the title of the oldest man in the world in March after the death of the previous holder Chitetsu Watanabe of Japan (PA Wire)
