World's first Chardonnay aged in Scotch whisky barrels

Pernod Ricard UK has launched the world’s first Chardonnay crafted in aged Scotch whisky barrels.

Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Chardonnay, an addition to the Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel range launched in 2014.

The range includes a Shiraz finished in aged Scotch whisky barrels and a Cabernet Sauvignon finished in Irish whisky barrels.

Sourced from premium regions in Australia, the wine is half fermented in whisky barrels, and then matured in wine barrels.

The second half is fermented in wine barrels, and then finished in whisky barrels providing two different flavour profiles which are then blended together.

Lucy Bearman, Pernod Ricard UK Wine Portfolio Director, said: “Launching just in time ahead of the festive season, this brand-new wine is unique not only in its flavours but also its ageing process.

“Perfect on its own or paired with a vast number of dishes, we’re excited to be bringing the world’s first Chardonnay aged in Scotch whisky barrels from Australia’s largest wine brand."

Jacob’s Creek Double Barrel Chardonnay is available at Sainsbury’s at an RRP of £12.
