The world’s largest ever firework has been set off in the US.
The firework was launched on Saturday night above the Steamboat Springs annual winter festival in Colorado.
Guinness World Records has verified it as the largest ever aerial firework.
The entry weighed 2,800lbs (1,270kg) and measured 62in (1.57m) in diameter.
Explosives propelled the firework out of a tube buried in Emerald Mountain. It was launched at 300mph, and rose almost a mile in the air before it exploded.
Tim Borden headed the team that developed the firework over the course of seven years.
Borden attempted to break the record last year, but failed when the shell exploded too early.
A Guinness World Record official attended the launch and presented a certificate to Borden and his team.
The firework beats the previous record-holder, a 2,397lb (1,087kg) shell launched in the United Arab Emirates in 2018.
