World Rugby on Monday welcomed reports that the Argentina Rugby Union was still investigating racist social media comments attributed to captain Pablo Matera and two other players.
"World Rugby welcomes reports that the Union Argentina de Rugby (UAR) continues to undertake a full investigation into racist social media comments attributed to members of the senior men’s national 15s team," the global governing body said in a statement.
"World Rugby is currently seeking a better understanding of the process being undertaken by the UAR and its status and looks forward to receiving a full update."
Last Thursday, the UAR rescinded its sanction against Matera, Guido Petti and Santiago Socino, two days after suspending them for comments posted between 2011 and 2013 which disparaged Black people and those from other South American nations.
They were however left out of the team for last Saturday's Tri-Nations match against Australia.
UAR said the players' apologies, combined with their good behaviour in the years since the comments were posted, meant the suspension could be lifted.
