It's World Gin & Tonic Day which means there's only one to celebrate - by mixing up the best gin based drinks.
While everyone knows the traditional Gin and Tonic, it's time to venture out of your comfort zone and try a few other beverages.
Whether it's traditional or wacky, sweet or smoky, refreshing or warming, gin really does with everything which is why it's one of our favourite alcoholic beverages.
Don't believe us, try one of these six cocktails, that are both easy to make and even easier to drink.
Martini

Stir the gin or vodka, dry vermouth and a little ice together or put them in a cocktail shaker to combine.
Strain into a chilled martini glass and serve with an olive on a cocktail stick or a twist of lemon peel to impress your guests.
Ingredients:

1 tbsp dry vermouth

olive or lemon peel, to garnish
The Bramble

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and add gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup - then shake until well-chilled.
Load a small tumbler with crushed ice and pour over the shaken mixture. Drizzle the Crème de mûre over the top so that it ‘bleeds’ down into the glass
Garnish with your lemon slice and blackberries.
Ingredients:

30ml fresh lemon juice

1 tbsp sugar syrup

1 tbsp blackberry liqueur, such as Crème de mûre

Lemon slice and blackberries, to garnish
Singapore Sling
Pour 25ml of gin, 25ml of cherry brandy, 1 tsp benedictine liqueur into a tall glass and top up with ginger ale.
Serve with a slice of lime.

handful of ice, to serve

few drops Angostura bitters

50ml pineapple juice

25ml lime juice

sparkling water to top up

1 thin slice of fresh pineapple (optional)
Tom Collins

A classic that was first made in the late 19th century. Shake together two shots of gin, one shot of fresh lemon juice, half a shot of sugar syrup.
Strain into an ice-filled glass and top with tonic water.
Garnish with a slice of lemon and a cherry.

50ml gin

25ml lemon juice

25ml sugar syrup

125ml chilled tonic water
Negroni

Equal measures gin (1oz) Campari and sweet vermouth stirred (not shaken) with ice.
Pour in a rocks glass and stir. Garnish with a slice of orange.
Ingredients:
- 25ml gin
- 25ml sweet vermouth
- 25ml Campari
- ice
Elderflower & Mint Collins Gin Cocktail

Lightly muddle/mix eight mint leaves in the base of a Collins glass.
Fill the glass with ice and churn with a bar spoon.
Shake together over ice two shots of gin, one shot of lemon juice, half a shot of elderflower cordial, strain into the glass and top with tonic water.
Garnish with a slice of lemon.
Ingredients:
- 2 handfuls ice
- 60ml gin
- 30ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 15ml elderflower cordial
- tonic water (about 125ml/4fl oz)
- lemon slice, to garnish (optional)
