World famous sports analyst gives Premier League prediction - where Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea finish

A leading sports data analyst has predicted Manchester City and Liverpool to finish level on points come the end of the season.

Five Thirty Eight , the website of Nate Silver, has created a data model to predict how the Premier League will finish.

Silver is most well-known for being the man to correctly call the outcome of the 2008 and 2012 US elections but his background is actually in sports data modelling.

His website has Man City down to finish level on 94 points with Liverpool in what would be a gripping end to the season.

Philippe Coutinho gives key Manchester United update; Liverpool scout Barcelona target; Chelsea eager to land Borussia Dortmund star

However, Man City's goal difference is predicted to be eight goals better off than the Reds, meaning they would win the title.

Pep Guardiola's side have been given a 57 per cent chance of winning the Premier League in comparison to Jurgen Klopp's men's 43 per cent chance.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea round out the top four, with Spurs finishing on 76 points.

Chelsea are predicted to pip the Gunners to the fourth spot, despite the fact they finish level on points - although the website ranks both side's chances of making the top four at exactly 50 per cent.

Aston Villa handed Chelsea transfer blow; Leeds United target plays down talk of move; West Bromwich Albion keen on Newcastle United star

Manchester United's indifferent form sees them finish six, three points behind Chelsea and Arsenal - they have been given a 19 per cent chance of making the top four.

At the other end of the table, Cardiff City join Fulham and Huddersfield Town in being relegated, being given a massive 87 per cent chance of going down.
