World-famous DJ Tiesto fires man's ashes out of confetti cannon at Creamfields in tribute

Creamfields headliner Tiesto fired a man's ashes out of a confetti cannon at the festival in a poignant tribute to him.

Dad-of-one Stuart Mitchell, 30, took his own life in July. He had been set to attend the annual festival and had already bought his tickets for the bank holiday event.

His family sold his tickets with one request to those buying them to spread some of his ashes around Creamfields as he loved attending the event, Liverpool Echo report.

Cousins Ryan and Liam Millen, from Halewood, bought his readvertised tickets online and promised to scatter his ashes around the site.

They made a banner, bearing the dad-of-one's photograph holding his three-year-old son Oliver, with the message: "This last dance is for you mate."

After carrying the banner around the festival all weekend, Ryan managed to get it on main stage before organisers suggested firing out Stuart's ashes out of a confetti cannon by Tiesto during his headlining finale.

Stuart's family have said they're overwhelmed by the gesture.

Laura Mitchell, Stuart's sister, said: "We've seen all the photos and footage from Creamfields and we're really overwhelmed.

"My mum is overjoyed as she feels his legacy remains and how he was loved even by strangers.

"It's helping me, too, with my grieving.

"So it's bitter sweet, obviously Stuart has passed away, but what happened at Creamfields is amazing, celebrating his lifer but also raising awareness for those struggling with their mental health."

Stuart was a keen gamer and lived in Norwich, but loved attending the festival.

Creamfields organisers allowed the Millen cousins onto the main stage to display their banner remembering the dad-of-one but never expected his ashes would be fired over the crowd in a cannon by world-famous DJ Tiesto during his closing set.

The Millens later found out that Tiesto's version of Adagio For Strings had been played at his funeral and they have become firm friends of the Mitchell family since news of their accomplishments emerged.

Laura, from Chester, added: "My brother was so funny, with a great sense of humour, really quirky.

"He was so loving, he would give his last 10p to someone who needed it, he was very generous.

"He donated to homeless charities, and helped out all his friends and family.

"He was just fun, a whizz kid with tech and loved his son very much."
