That is according to leading data analyst Nate Silver, whose website Five Thirty Eight has compiled a global club ranking system.

The Robins fare okay in the list, coming 180th, one place above Championship rivals Derby County and five places below Middlesbrough.

City are ranked as the 10th best club in the Championship, with Fulham (60th overall) topping the division and Charlton Athletic (362nd overall) coming last.

It has been devised by an SPI rating, which are the website's best estimate of a team's overall strength, which, in pre-season, is based on two factors - how the team performed last season alongside the value of players they have signed.

The next highest club is Chelsea in sixth, with Manchester United 17th and Arsenal 18th.

Everton are also in the top 20, being ranked as 19th.
