World famous data analyst makes Championship promotion prediction with good news for Bristol City, Leeds United and Fulham

The Championship table is beginning to take shape as we wait for the action to resume next weekend.

Bristol City are now 10 games unbeaten and climbing up the Championship table, both now and at the end of the season if data projections are accurate.

Nate Silver's Five Thirty Eight has created a data model that predicts how the Championship will finish and it is good news for City and some of the other big hitters in the second tier of English football.

Despite losing 2-1 to Millwall last Saturday after Gaetano Berardi was shown an early red card, Leeds United are tipped as both favourites for promotion to the Premier League and to win the league with a 29 per cent chance of lifting the title according to the latest data.

Fulham remain close on Leeds' heels and are on course for the second automatic promotion spot, while the Cottagers have been given a 24 percent chance of finishing top of the pile.

The final promotion place is the one of real interest with West Brom currently considerable favourites but Lee Johnson's City side tipped for a finish in the play-offs which of course gives them a shot at moving up.

Amazingly despite Bristol City currently being in sixth place in the table and just two points off first place after 11 games, which is currently occupied by WBA, and on the same points as Leeds (20), they have been given just a 4 percent chance of winning the league.

Here is the full table based on clubs' chances of promotion as calculated by FiveThirtyEight.
