World famous data analyst makes bold Championship prediction after weekend games - what it means for Bristol City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest

Leeds United are on course to win the Championship.

That's the view of world famous data analyst Nate Silver, whose website, Five Thirty Eight, have created a statistical model to see who comes out on top in the Championship this season.

Silver is most well-known for correctly calling the outcomes of the 2008 and 2012 US elections, a feat which earned him a place in Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world, but his background is actually in sports data, and his website feels Leeds have a 33 per cent chance of winning the division.

That is the most out of anyone in the Championship - Marcelo Bielsa's side also have a 62 per cent chance of getting promoted and a 33 per cent chance of making the play-offs, which is likely so low because they are so fancied for a top-two finish.

West Brom are tipped to finish second, with a 23 per cent chance of winning the title, a 49 per cent chance of getting promoted, and a 37 per cent chance of making the play-offs.

Fulham's 46 per cent chance of being promoted sees them sat third in the predicted table ahead of fourth-placed Nottingham Forest, who have a 39 per cent chance of making the play-offs but just a 17 per cent chance of finishing in the top two.

Elsewhere, Bristol City's defeat to Luton Town at the weekend has severely damaged their chances of making the play-offs according to the website.

The Robins are predicted to finish seventh, and have just a three per cent chance of the title.

There is a 13 per cent chance of the Robins making the top two and winning promotion, and a 26 per cent chance of them making the play-offs.

Swansea City and Brentford are the two other teams tipped to finish about the Robins in the table.

At the other end of the division, Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Luton Town are said to have the most likely chance of being relegated.
