Leading sports analyst gives Premier League prediction - where Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea finish

A leading data analyst has offered his thoughts on how the Premier League will finish.

Nate Silver was named one of the world's most 100 influential people after he correctly called the outcomes of both the 2008 and 2012 US elections, yet his background is actually in sports stats.

His website, Five Thirty Eight, has now created a data model to find out who will win the Premier League.

It is good news for Man City, who are predicted to finish top of the table with 97 points - they have an 82 per cent chance of winning the title following their victory over Manchester United.

Liverpool would finish second in heartbreaking circumstances - coming behind Pep Guardiola's men by a single point. They have been given an 18 per cent chance of claiming first place.

World famous data analyst predicts Champions League winner - where Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Ajax finish

Spurs would finish third, two points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea, who have been given a 73 per cent chance of reaching the top four.

Arsenal's recent poor form has given them a 26 per cent chance of top-four qualification - they have been predicted to finish two points behind the Blues.

Manchester United's form would see them come sixth on 69 points - they have just a six per cent chance of finishing in the top four.
