World famous analysts give Spurs and Arsenal edge as things look bleak for Man United & Chelsea

There is not too long to go in the Premier League season and the fight for a top-four finish and the Champions League football that comes with it being fierce.

It was not a great weekend for the four clubs chasing that spot, as Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal all suffered defeats, while Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley.

That saw no club take a grip of proceedings heading into the final few weeks of the season and it remains wide open, although world famous data analysts FiveThirtyEight have crunched the numbers in the battle to secure a place amongst Europe’s elite next term.

According to their results, Spurs are almost guaranteed a top-four finish and have a 93% likelihood of returning to the Champions League next season, while north London rivals Arsenal are tipped at 66% despite the recent defeat to Crystal Palace.

When does the 2019 summer transfer window open and close for Premier League clubs?

That means Chelsea’s best avenue to the Champions League looks set to be by winning the Europa League this season, as they are seen as just 31% likely to achieve their objectives via a top-four finish.

The situation is much worse for Manchester United though, as the wheels seem to have come off Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign and the Red Devils are given just a 10% likelihood of securing a top-four finish.

How much Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham and the rest earn from their Premier League positions
