World Cup winner Liam Plunkett expects Surrey T20 clash to 'feel like an international match'

Liam Plunkett cannot wait to take the field for the first time as a World Cup winner in Tuesday's T20 London derby between Surrey and Middlesex at the Kia Oval.

Ollie Pope is set to return to Surrey colours three months after picking up a shoulder injury that required surgery and Middlesex will have AB de Villiers, who made an unbeaten 88 off 43 balls on his county debut, in their side.

This will be Plunkett’s first experience of T20 Blast at the Oval after his move from Yorkshire.

“Big game, full crowd, and it’s going to be a warm one,” said the 34-year-old. “It should be awesome, these are the games you play for. It will feel like an international match. This is as big as it gets outside international cricket.”

Yesterday he was at Dulwich Cricket Club with the World Cup trophy and around 300 children. “A little boy gave me a bag of Haribo and told me I was his hero, which was sweet,” he said.
