World Cup to be shown on what's thought to be East Midlands' 'largest outdoor screen' in Nottingham

Football fans will be able to cheer on the Three Lions and watch all the live action from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on a giant TV screen in Nottingham. Measuring 7 x 3.35m it is thought to be the largest outdoor screen in the East Midlands.

The England games will be show on the high definition screen with amplified sound at Nottingham's new canal-side venue, Binks Yard. Fans will be able to watch both the England vs USA game on November 25 and the England vs Wales game on November 29 outside at Binks Yard from 90 newly installed covered tiered seats or 60 covered heated terraced seats.

Tickets will cost £10 per match, with seats allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will need to be presented to gain access to the outdoor plaza, and the events will be open to over 18s only with ID required on the door.

The Binks Yard outdoor smoker will also be serving up its new Binks Smoker menu which includes 12-hour smoked beef brisket cobs, Binks’ classic and dirty smoked pork sausage dogs, pit beans with burnt ends, classic pulled pork and vegetarian plates. Cooked slow and low, and created by chef patron Laurence Henry, the dishes will be served with a wide selection of locally brewed beers, ales and other drinks available from the outdoor Binks Kiosk.

Both events start at 5pm, with legendary event host, Kieran ‘Kezz’ Hardcastle, who starred in This is England, on hand to hype up the crowd with football-based quiz questions, interactive challenges and classic football singalongs before kick-off at 7pm. Ben Hicklin, head of events at Binks Yard, said: “The FIFA World Cup is always a fantastic event that brings people together from all walks of life, and in keeping that spirit, we’re inviting the city’s football fans to join us as we cheer on The Three Lions with our brand new big screen.

“With seating for 150 people and delicious food from our outdoor smoker it’s set to be the perfect way to celebrate the beautiful game with friends, as the boys hopefully bring it home for us this year.”

With an exciting season of sport approaching, Binks Yard plans to show all other FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 games for free, with only England vs USA and England vs Wales requiring a paid ticket. Fans of rugby will be able to catch the Autumn Internationals 2022 with England vs New Zealand All Blacks game showing on November 19, and other rugby union games showing throughout the season for free on the big screen.

Drinks will be available throughout the sporting season at Binks Kiosk and its smoker menu will be available from November 19. To book tickets for the England football games or to find out more about any other upcoming Binks Yard events, visit binksyard.com/live/

The Trent Navigation, in Meadow Lane, is also screening the World Cup within its new all-weather fan zone, called The Big Shed. On the Trent Navigation's website, the screen is described as 15m², which would make it slightly smaller than the one in Binks Yard.
