NEW DELHI: Indian archers continue to perform well and are on track to secure their fourth bronze medal at the World Cup Stage 3 in Medellin, Colombia.
The fourth-seeded recurve mixed team comprising Tushar Shelke and Bhajan Kaur emerged victorious over France and the Netherlands, both with convincing 6-0 victories.
However, their winning streak came to an end as they faced their strong rivals Korea, losing 0-6. As a result, they will now compete for the bronze medal against Chinese Taipei.
In another notable performance, Abhishek Verma, a multiple World Cup gold medalist, made a comeback after missing the first two stages of the World Cup.
He stunned the world number one and top seed, Mike Schloesser, in a thrilling shoot-off, with both archers tied at 148-148 (10*-10). Verma's victory secured his spot in the men's compound individual semifinals, where he will face Luccas Abreu of Brazil.
India have already secured three bronze medals in the competition so far. These include medals in the recurve men's team event, as well as the men's and women's compound team events. The medal matches, including the bronze medal clash involving the Indian archers, will take place on Saturday.
