World Cup: Pakistan vs Bangladesh head to head record

NEW DELHI: Pakistan face Bangladesh in the 31st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday.

In the 38 ODIs played between the two sides, Pakistan have won 33, while Bangladesh have won 5.

The most famous ODI win for Bangladesh against Pakistan probably was the huge upset in the 1999 World Cup in England.

Pakistan are on the verge of crashing out of the ongoing World Cup in India, having lost four of their six matches.

Pakistan not only need to win all their remaining three matches but also hope other results go in their favour in order to reach the semi-finals.

For the first time, Pakistan have lost four successive World Cup matches - all in this edition - by 7 wickets to India at Ahmedabad on October 14; by 62 runs to Australia at Bengaluru on October 20; by 8 wickets to Afghanistan on October 23 and by one wicket to South Africa on October 27 (both at Chennai).

Bangladesh have lost five of their six matches with virtually no hope whatsoever of making the semi-finals.

The only six-wicket haul in World Cup fixture for Pakistan was by Shaheen Shah Afridi vs Bangladesh was 6/35 at Lord's on July 5, 2019. Just one other bowler could bag a six-wicket haul vs Bangladesh in the World Cup - 6/25 by Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas at Pietermaritzburg on February 14, 2003.

Spin and pace are likely to find joy in this contest in which dew could play a major role. It could be a low-scoring affair.

There is no threat of rain and the temperature should hover between 33 and 26 degrees.
