Dennis Bergkamp

Bruce Rioch didn't do many things right during his short-lived Arsenal tenure. But boy did he make one very, very good decision.

It was under Rioch's managership that Bergkamp arrived, landing in north London for £7.5million in the summer of 1995, shattering the Gunners' transfer record.

He would go on to become one of the club's greatest player in their history, and a star synonymous with the Premier League.

Bergkamp spent 11 years at Arsenal before hanging up his boots in 2006, having left the most mercurial of marks on English football.

He won three Premier League titles with the Gunners, including the Invincibles season of 2003-04, as well as four Fa Cups.

In all, he scored 87 times in 315 games in the top flight, including a strike against Newcastle which is still argued about to this day. Did he mean it?!

Cristiano Ronaldo

This fresh-faced Portuguese prodigy would go on to become one of the greatest of all time (PA)

Arguably the most talented footballer to have graced the English game. It's just a shame he didn't stick around for a bit longer.

It wasn't often that Sir Alex Ferguson bowed to player power, but one such occasion would bear more fruit than he could possibly have imagined.

Several United stars urged Fergie to sign Ronaldo after he dazzled for Sporting Lisbon against the Red Devils.

The manager listened and the Portuguese put pen to paper at Old Trafford in the summer of 2003 in a £12.24million transfer from Sporting Lisbon.

He would go on to establish himself as one of the world's elite players in a six-year spell with United before leaving for Real Madrid for a then world-record fee, where he would go on to become Los Blancos' record goal scorer.

Ronaldo plundered 84 goals in 196 Premier League appearances in all, including 31 strikes in 34 games in the 2007-08 campaign.

He helped United to three successive Premier League titles as well as the FA Cup, two League Cups and the Champions League.

The greatest to ever kick a ball? He's in the argument.
