World Cup kicks off with Gareth Southgate lookalike competition

Gareth Southgate World Cup

Gareth Southgate lookalikes gathered in a south London pub to mark the start of the World Cup 2026.
The event commemorated the first tournament in a decade without Southgate managing the England team.
Participants, including casual fans and professional impersonators, wore waistcoats and performed Southgate impressions.
They were competing for a 'golden waistcoat' and a £100 bar tab.
The Independent reported on the event as the World Cup commenced on Thursday, 11 June.
