World Cup Daily: Klose but no cigar as Spain end Germany's World Cup hopes

Well, maybe Paul the psychic octopus does know a thing or two about football after all, for as he predicted, Spain did beat Germany in the World Cup semi-final.

On tonight's World Cup Daily, James Richardson has John Ashdown and Scott Murray in the studio and Sid Lowe and Rafa Honigstein on the phone to analyse a game that never quite lived up to expectations.

Still, the prospect of a Spain-Holland final seems mighty tasty indeed. How will Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, and Xabi Alonso get on with Mark van Bommel? Does the fact Spain may have as many as seven Barcelona players in their starting line-up make any difference? And is it possible Ryan Babel could finish his career with more World Cup winners medals than Johan Cruyff?

We'll be back on Saturday to answer those questions as we preview the Johannesburg finale - having glossed over Uruguay and Germany's pointless encounter in the third/fourth-place play-off - so in the meantime, post your thoughts on the blog below and send us your tweets.
