World Cup Daily: England squeak past Slovenia - bring on the Germans!

Well, it wasn't the greatest performance, but England just about got the better of Slovenia to secure their passage into the knock-out stages of World Cup 2010. On tonight's podcast, James Richardson is joined by Barney Ronay and Tom Lutz in the studio and Owen Gibson in Port Elizabeth to look back on a nervous 90 minutes for Fabio Capello and company, whose next opponents, of course, are Germany.

It was USA who won Group C however with a last-gasp victory over Algeria. ESPN.com's Jeff Carlisle tells us why he thinks this is a seminal moment in American sport.

Finally, we look ahead to tomorrow's games, including Italy-Slovakia in Group F and Denmark-Japan in the winner-takes-all clash in Group E. Our man Lars Eriksen tells us why this Danish team is not just the most-tattooed team in South Africa, but also one of the best.
