World Cup 2018, England vs Colombia: Andre Agassi makes his prediction as football fever hits Wimbledon

Andre Agassi backed England to keep their World Cup dream alive by beating Colombia as football fever hit Wimbledon.

The 1992 Wimbledon winner admitted he is still reeling from reigning world champions Germany's shock exit from Russia 2018's group stages. The American is married to German tennis great Steffi Graf.

But the 48-year-old still found the time to back Gareth Southgate's England, who take on Colombia in the last 16 on Tuesday night.

"I always support England, it's hard not to!" Agassi said. "It would be great to see them win."

England's last-16 clash, kicking off at 7pm, will coincide with a glut of tennis action at Wimbledon, and it remained to be seen whether fans would drift off in order to prioritise the World Cup.

Wimbledon organisers do not allow football to be shown on public television screens at the All England Club.

In backing England, Agassi admitted he was still struggling to comprehend Germany's early exit.

Speaking at a Lavazza event at Wimbledon, Agassi said: "I'm still dwelling on Germany losing. It's hard to take such a heartbreak like that, and it's hard to keep caring afterwards - but you just can't ever ignore it as a competition.

"It's an amazing event, happens every four years and you can always feel the intensity and the passion, the disappointments, the joys and excitement."

Lavazza, the official coffee of The Championships for the eighth year running, welcomes its global ambassador, Andre Agassi, back to the Grand Slam tournament.
