Spain start strongly and create a number of good chances in the opening quarter of an hour. After peppering the Honduras goal with a number of shots, David Villa finally finds his range, and in spectacular style too. He picks up the ball on the left before cutting inside on a mazey run which takes out Mednoz and Guevara and then jinks past Chavez before firing an unstoppable screamer into the top right corner

It's Fernando Torres first time in the starting 11 since having right-knee surgery in April so it's no wonder he looks a bit rusty and tired. He missed a couple of early chances which he would no doubt have buried if he was operating at full fitness. So it's no surprise that he is replaced 20 minutes from the end by Juan Manuel Mata
