LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that the future belongs to UP and its people and nothing would be spared for the sustained development of the state. He also attacked the Opposition by saying that earlier, UP was a victim of anarchy and hooliganism.
“By becoming a $1trillion economy, UP will fulfil the resolve of the Prime Minister and I believe that the state is moving fast in that direction,” said the CM. He was speaking at the ceremony in which Union defence minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh inaugurated and laid the foundation of 180 infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,710 crore.
“After Rajnath Singh left the post of CM in 2003, the state slipped into an era of chaos, corruption and hooliganism. Investors exited from UP because of poor law and order. There was no vision for development and no respect for people’s aspirations. A riot occurred every third day from 2012 to 2017,” Yogi added.
However, the CM said, things have changed in the past four years.
“The projects being inaugurated and those whose foundations have been laid speak volumes about the change in Lucknow and the state. These projects will not only resolve traffic issues in the city, but also provide world-class facilities to citizens,” he said.
Further, the CM said, UP is now the second best state in India in terms of ease of doing business as compared to its 12th-14th position four years ago.
“During the Covid period when investors were fleeing China, amid competition on the global stage, India and UP became their first choice. The Samsung display unit of Rs 5,000 crore has been set up in the state. North India’s largest data centre is also being established here. Overall, an investment of Rs 66,000 crore has come to UP,” he said.
“Besides a network of expressways and upgrading of interstate routes into four lanes, state universities of Saharanpur, Aligarh and Azamgarh, law university at Prayagraj, sports university at Meerut, Atal medical university at Lucknow and Ayush University at Gorakhpur are being established,” he added.
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma said, “Lucknow is getting world-class services like Delhi and Mumbai. The dream of development that Atalji had for Lucknow is being fulfilled today.”
Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “The previous chief ministers used hard earned tax money of the public for constructing statues, but the BJP government is working to provide world-class services to people.”

The new infrastructure projects will definitely improve the quality of life of people and ease traffic flow, but civic authorities need to ensure regular maintenance for durability and better services. In the absence of proper upkeep, several roads and flyovers in the city are in bad shape. People also face inconvenience due to poor street lighting.

Carry Vajpayee’s pic on all hoardings, says Rajnath
Defence minister Rajnath Singh urged the state government and BJP functionaries to ensure that a picture of former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee was present on top of all hoardings and banners put up before any event in Lucknow. Singh convincingly invoked Vajpayee to suggest that the BJP stalwart, who represented Lucknow, was a revered political figure even in foreign shores. “Not a single poster should be left without Atal ji’s picture,” he said.
