World-class DJ to play Newcastle bar this weekend and fans can join him for free

A DJ billed as one of the hottest names in soul and disco will be upping the tempo in Newcastle this weekend.

John Devecchis, known as The Owl as well as The Winged Wonder, will be at Rhum Bar in Colonel Porter’s Emporium in Newcastle 's Dean Street.

There the music star, who moved back to the UK after two decades in Australia, will be joining forces with resident DJ Tony Hutchinson.

Devecchis, who won big support from Craig Charles on Radio 6 Music, regularly featuring in his BBC Funk and Soul Show, has performed his disco and funk classic remakes around the world.

Having started off at the age of 15, he moved from R&B to early 90s rave tracks then soul and R&B.

Also a producer, he's since DJ'd at such big club events as Space Ibiza Circa Loco; Renaissance; Defected; Glitterbox; Circus; Back to Basics and Up Yer Ronson.

This Saturday he will be doing what he does best at Colonel Porter’s Emporium, which has established a reputation for hosting top DJs.
