Workout bonus explains Patrick Peterson’s initial attendance in offseason work

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson has been the center of the news lately and, unfortunately, not for positive things. He requested a trade back during last season. He has been absent from voluntary offseason practices, including a voluntary minicamp last month.

However, he did show up at the beginning of the offseason plan for Phase 1, which are workouts.

It was not until the extra minicamp the team gets because of having a new coach that Peterson was absent.

So why show up for Phase 1 workouts? The motivation was money.

According to Over the Cap, Peterson has a $250,000 bonus he can earn by attending offseason workouts.

Typically, a player must attend 90 percent of offseason workouts to get their bonus.

Peterson showed up for Phase 1, which is strength and conditioning work.

He did not participate after that.
