Workmen filmed on top of roof as Storm Ciara batters them with wind and rain

Two men were battered by high winds and torrential rain as they worked on top of a roof during Storm Ciara.

The pair were filmed precariously balanced as they battled to get the job done in East Kilbride.

Karen Murray was stunned when she spotted them hard at work during so far.

She told the EK News: "I saw them from the kitchen window and as far as I know they were working their way along Telford Road, including Denholm Crescent, replacing the panelling from under the widows to remove asbestos and replacing the roofs at the same time.

"I feel for the poor boys having to go up there in this weather, scaffolding or not, it cannot be safe."

The horrendous weather brought chaos to the Greater Glasgow area with wide-spread flooding.

The Renfrew Ferry was forced to cancel its services after the River Clyde burst its banks yesterday afternoon and pedestrians were warned to avoid the King George V Bridge amid safety fears.

And the extreme weather has continued today with snow and hail prompting further travel warnings.
