Workman in hospital after 'coming into contact with power cable' in Maryhill, Glasgow

A workman has been taken to hospital following an incident in the Maryhill area of Glasgow .

He is understood to have come into contact with a power cable while working in Shawpark Road around 12.35pm today.

Emergency Services rushed to the area and the man who's in his forties was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary .

There were reports of power cuts in the surrounding area following the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland attended at Shawpark Road in Glasgow around 12.30pm on Thursday, 14 November following a report of a man having suffered an injury while working in the area.

"The man has been taken to hospital for treatment. The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 12.35pm today to attend an incident in Maryhill.

"We dispatched our trauma team, our special operations team, an advanced practitioner, one ambulance and a paramedic response unit to the scene.

We transported one male patient in his 40s to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
