Charge Nurse at University of Chicago Medicine

Katherina Martin, MSN, RN, is a charge nurse in the University of Chicago Medicine’s first specially designated unit for COVID-19 patients. Since March, she and her colleagues have been working long hours in protective equipment, making sure they don’t get sick or bring the virus home to their loved ones.

Martin says you’ll never hear anyone in her unit complain. “We will do whatever it takes to provide the best care possible for our patients,” she said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the teamwork and bravery I see every day from my fellow nurses and the entire staff.”
