Dr. Bsher Touleimat has been an independent pulmonologist at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial for 17 years. Despite working long shifts treating COVID-19 patients, he remains positive and driven to help. Touleimat credits the support from colleagues – doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians – for keeping him motivated. Everyone has shown their best attitudes and stepped up to handle the challenges of the pandemic as a team.

Touleimat misses seeing his family but hopes to continue treating patients for as long as he can. “I don’t consider myself a hero,” he said. “I just want to continue to be a good doctor to my patients.”
