Workers at Glasgow beauty store donate essential toiletries to hospital patients

Generous workers at a Glasgow health and beauty store have donated hundreds of items to coronavirus patients in need.

Cheryl Marshall came up with the idea to start a collection for the NHS after hearing that they were struggling for essential items for patients and nurses.

The Superdrug worker sent a message to her team in the Argyle Street branch asking if they would like to help - and received an incredible response.

Within just four hours, a total of £300 was raised to buy Superdrug's own products including toothpaste and deodorant.

The items are especially needed as patients aren't able to have friends or family visit and bring them the essential items.

Cheryl told Glasgow Live: "I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my team.

"My store manager also designed some really lovely boxes with the caption #NHS to give it that more personal touch.

"We're all in this together and it’s a small price to pay as we never know when we might need to use of our amazing NHS staff."

Cheryl's cousin, Sharon Marshall, who works for the NHS, has started a fundraiser to get more donations to patients in need.

You can donate to the fundraiser here.
