Worker in hospital with 'life-threatening' injuries after falling from roof

A worker is in hospital with 'life-threatening' injuries after falling from a roof in Barton Hill.

The incident sparked a large emergency service presence in Cabot Green and surrounding roads earlier this afternoon (June 24).

A picture shared on Twitter shows police cars, ambulances and fire engines all at the scene in Barton Hill Road.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary have now confirmed a man fell while working on a roof and was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police are in Cabot Green, Barton Hill, supporting fire and ambulance crews after a man fell while working on a roof.

"The man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His next of kin are aware.

"Police officers remain at the scene pending a possible enquiry by the Health and Safety Executive."

Avon Fire and Rescue also confirmed a man was 'rescued' from the first floor of the property.

"Crews from Temple rescued one male casualty from the first floor with the assistance of ambulance crews," a fire service spokeswoman said.

"The casualty was conveyed to hospital.

"A further male casualty was treated at the scene by firefighters."
