Worker dies at Morrisons warehouse after 'industrial accident' in Yorkshire

A worker has died in an 'industrial accident' at a Morrisons warehouse in Yorkshire. Emergency services were called to the scene in Wakefield following reports that a man who was working as a contractor at the site had been seriously injured.

Paramedics were called to 41 Business Park, Kenmore Road, at 10.20am this morning (August 1), Yorkshire Live reports. West Yorkshire Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 10.20am today police were contacted by the ambulance service who were attending an incident at the Morrisons Warehouse in Wakefield 41 Business Park, on Kenmore Road. A man had been seriously injured while working at the site as a contractor.

"He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. A scene has been put in place while enquiries are carried out into the circumstances. The Coroner’s Office has been informed.

"The incident is being treated as an industrial accident and officers are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)"

A spokesperson for the HSE said: "HSE is aware of the incident and is available to support if called upon to do so." Yorkshire Live has approached Morrisons for a comment.
