Worker at Yeovil Garador factory tests positive for coronavirus

A Yeovil factory worker has tested positive for coronavirus, and now other employees are self-isolating.

Bosses at garage door manufacturer Garador have not closed the site, but say a 'deep clean' has been conducted.

It's understood the employee was at the site on Friday (August 21), and chiefs were notified late on Monday about the positive test, reports Somerset Live.

Members of staff that came into contact with the infected employee are self-isolating.

A spokesman for Garador said: "We were notified late on Monday that a Garador employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

"The employee was a remote worker who was on site for a short period of time on Friday.

"In line with our policy, we immediately took steps to have the office area deep cleaned by on-site cleaning staff that evening. This was in addition to the twice daily cleaning regime we currently perform.

"The employee identified a number of people as potentially close contacts on Friday. In addition, the employee’s movements were checked by our internal CCTV.

"A small number of employees were identified as a potential close contact and left site to self-isolate and were immediately referred for testing via our government portal.

"We continue to adhere to government guidelines and have strong measures in place here at the factory to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"The health and safety of all of our employees remains our priority."
