Work underway to build 29 new homes in Bedminster

Work is underway to build 29 flats at a former petrol station in Bedminster.

The site, which sits between Bedminster Road and Highbury Road, is being developed by Solon Housing Association and construction firm E G Carter & Co Ltd.

The original building, a former petrol station has been demolished and will be replaced with one, two and three bedroom properties all for rent.

Construction on the £3.9million development began near the end of last year and is expected to be completed in early 2021.

Phil Barnes, associate director at E G Carter & Co Ltd said “We are delighted to have worked collaboratively with Solon and Bristol City Council to obtain planning permission for this exciting affordable housing development.

“Completion of this project will surpass the 200th affordable home delivered within a BS postcode over recent years as we look ahead to a significant increase in delivery over the next year or two.”

The scheme has been designed by Bristol-based firm Noma Architects.
