Work underway on set of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway ahead of imminent return

Work is well underway on the Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway set ahead of the show’s exciting return on February 22.

Behind the scenes snaps show staff wheeling huge boxes into the recording studios alongside a sign that displays the show’s recognisable logo.

Another image reveals cardboard prop boxes that hilariously read “Dec’s” and “Balls,” as well as a silver glittery board and other stage equipment.

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is back on 22nd February.

It is the first episode to air on ITV in two years, after the Geordie duo opted to take a year off in 2019.

The much-anticipated comeback will be hosted live by TV regulars Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly and is promised to be even bigger and better than previous seasons.

The multi award-winning show will return to ITV with a whole host of new and exclusive features, guests, live surprises and outrageous stunts along with all of the Saturday Night Takeaway favourites that viewers know and love.

Win the Ads and Ant vs Dec challenges are also anticipated to feature on the show, although there is no sign of little Ant and Dec in this season just yet.

There will also be special guest appearances by The Pussycat Dolls, Amanda Holden, Paddy McGuinness, Simon Cowell and Emily Atack.

The pair teased it will be "the best ever" in a promo video when they first announced it will return to screens in February.

The nation's favourite presenters had made no secret of the show’s return and shared a ‘first look’ video at the end of January which made fans go wild.

They excitedly wrote at the time: "Think we can make #SaturdayNightTakeaway the best ever?! We certainly can-can! On your telly this Feb @itvtakeaway @itv…oh, and @stephenmulhern".

The famous Geordies are believed to have actually signed a contract with ITV at the end of last year, but have only recently gone public with the news.

Ant and Dec's ITV deal is expected to be worth around £40 million.

The staggering payment is anticipated to be part of a three year deal, despite rumours that other TV channels and streaming services such as Amazon had expressed interest in hosting the show.

The audience-orientated show is also still accepting applicants and nominations for the newest series, with the closing deadline being April 4.
