Work under way on £30m retail and leisure project in Nottingham

Work has started on a new £30 million retail and leisure development in Nottingham which will create more than 350 jobs.

the 20-acre Teal Park site in Netherfield, Nottingham, will include a pub or restaurant, care home, retail units and employment space. The first phase of work is expected to be completed in 2020.

It is part of a wider development which includes 830 homes and it is expected to be fully delivered in phases over the next three years.

Mark Edwards, managing director of AC Lloyd Commercial, which is delivering the project alongside Henry Davidson Developments, said: "This is AC Lloyd’s first foray into Nottingham and the wider East Midlands, so it is exciting to see that hard work coming to fruition and construction starting on site.

“We have already seen good interest in the units on site, with national occupiers secured and we are confident of attracting further interest on the remaining units.

“The development is set to be of great benefit to Netherfield and its surrounding communities, creating between 350 to 400 new jobs once the scheme has been completed, and creating a lasting legacy in the area."

The first phase of work will include delivering the enabling and infrastructure works on the site - work can then begin on the trade and larger industrial units. The development will be home to a 53,000sq ft trade park overall and 141,000sq ft of employment units.

Reserved Matters Applications have been submitted for the various phases on the site, with planning permission now secured for a 66-bed care home.

HDD will be responsible for delivering the project on behalf of AC Lloyd.

Scott Davidson, managing director of Nottingham and Birmingham-based HDD, said: “It is fantastic to see the scheme starting to come to life.

“The team at HDD has worked tirelessly to get the project to this stage and it will generate significant employment.”
