Work to repair ground damage at Wollaton Park after Stealth Halloween Festival is under way

Work has started at Wollaton Park to repair areas of ground that were left damaged after the Stealth Halloween Festival.

The event took place last weekend, Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27 and attracted 6,000 people.

After the event, large track marks and piles of mud could be seen at the site, which had been caused by heavy machinery during the breakdown.

One dog walker commenting that he was "shocked to see the state of the ground".

A spokeswoman for DHP Family, the organisers of the event, said the ground area would be "speedily repaired" with any costs for remedial work being met by the festival.

Patrick Loy, head of events at Nottingham City Council, previously said: “We already have a plan in place to correct the damage caused this weekend.”

A spokesman for Nottingham City Council has confirmed that work has now started.

He said: "Our Parks team have been on site since (Thursday, October 30) with chain harrows to level the ground.

"There is still standing water in some parts and this will take a few more days to dry out before work can start in these areas.

"Replacing lost soil and seeding is expecting to start next week."
