Work to repair collapsed wall on 'Devil's Bend' set to continue over the weekend

Work to repair a collapsed wall on a busy Nottinghamshire route is ongoing this weekend, it has been confirmed.

A section of the wall in Town Street, Bramcote Village, has been closed at the corner where it meets Chilwell Lane after a small landslide caused a wall to collapse.

Bricks, mud and debris tumbled into the middle of the road at the corner known locally as 'Devil's Bend'.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Sunday, February 7.

The road has been closed since that date between its junction with Cow Lane and Common Lane.

Originally it was planned to reopen on February 19, and then this was pushed back to today (February 26).

An update from Nottinghamshire County Council has now confirmed repairs will continue this weekend, and the road will remain closed until 11.59pm on Monday, March 1.

Via East Midlands is working in partnership with the council on the repairs.

For motorists, it means the route will not be passable and the diversion must continue to be used.

The details of the diversion are:

Via A52, Bramcote – B6003 Stapleford Lane, Toton/Stapleford – B6003 High Road, Toton – A6005 Nottingham Road, Toton/Attenborough – Attenborough Lane, Chilwell – High Road, Chilwell – School Lane – Bramcote Lane, Chilwell – Chilwell Lane, Bramcote and Vice Versa.

With the route being a major for many motorists, residents in the area said recently they were making the most of the quieter road with most feeling positive about the repairs.
