Work starts to extend footpath in Falkirk area park after £105k funding boost

Work has started to extend the footpath in a Falkirk park after a massive £105,352 funding boost.

Friends of Inchyra Park in Grangemouth, in partnership with volunteers and Falkirk Council were awarded the cash.

The work, which started last week, is expected to be finished by mid-December.

The cash will also be used to create solar lighting in the swing park to make it safer for use during the winter evenings.

Adam Gillies, who heads Friends of Inchyra Park, said: A few months ago we approached a council officer about an idea we had for the park who was good enough to have a site visit and chat about our plans.

"We are shocked as he contacted us to say funding of £105,352 has been secured through the cycling/walking/safer streets funding."
