Developers have secured permission for the next phase of a landmark County Durham development set to create thousands of jobs.
Integra61 in County Durham is the largest logistics and manufacturing site to be created in the North East in a decade and is so far home to Amazon’s 2m sq ft fulfilment centre, which opened last September.
Citrus Durham has now been granted planning consent for a new business and industrial hub at the £300m mixed-use site, based on 205 acres next to Junction 61 of the A1(M).
The hub, called Evolution@Integra61, will add up to a further 23 flexible units totalling 52,142 sq ft in sizes from 1,205 sq ft up to 6,480 sq ft. The entire development has consent for over 3 million sq ft of employment spa ce with the potential to help create 4,000 jobs.
The new units at Evolution@Integra61, which will be available to buy or lease and can be occupied individually or combined to meet larger requirements.
Integra 61 will also create around 300 new homes, a 70-bed hotel, a family pub/restaurant, a nursery, car showrooms and a number of trade counter/retail units.
Evolution@Integra61 has been designed to address the regional shortage of modern small units to satisfy strong demand from local and regional occupiers. The developers plan to appoint a contractor to start work on site in the summer.
Agents Avison Young and Colliers International are taking reservations in advance of practical completion in the final quarter of this year.
