Work remains ongoing to restore water supplies to some 16,000 homes affected by a burst water main in Coatbridge.
As reported on Glasgow Live, Scottish Water engineers are in attendance at a car park in the town’s Espieside Crescent following the burst earlier this morning.
Around 16,000 properties were left without water, affecting homes in west Coatbridge including Blairhill and Kirkwood, as well as Bargeddie and Baillieston within the Glasgow city limits.
Sharing an update at 12pm, Scottish Water confirmed that they are in the process of restoring normal water supplies to almost all of those affected.
A spokesman said: “We are still working on repairing the burst, which is complex, but we have re-zoned our local network and tankered water in to enable us to start the restoration of normal supplies as quickly as possible.
“When individual properties have their water restored will depend on their location on our network so some will have it restored earlier than others.
“When normal supplies are restored it is possible that the water could be discoloured. If this is the case, affected customers should run the cold water tap in their kitchen gently until the water runs clear.
“We will work to restore normal supplies as soon as possible to any remaining customers still
affected.”
In the meantime, bottled water collection points have been set up at the Showcase Cinema at Barbridge Leisure Centre (G69 7TZ), at Morrisons on Baillieston’s Main Street (G69 9AH), at Birkenshaw Industrial Estate (G71 5PR) and at the Time Capsule water park (ML5 1DL).
