Work on Welsh castle fuels I'm a Celebrity speculation

Rumours are rife that this year's I'm a Celebrity will be filmed at North Wales' Gwrych Castle as cranes are on site and a nearby caravan park is asking owners if they are willing to rent out their caravans for cast and crew.

Improvement works being carried out at the historic site were pictured this week and North Wales Live reported that Bob Francis Crane Hire machines were in operation at Gwrych Castlebut would not confirm whether the work was for an ITV production.

They said that staff are working with scaffolding and improving the general structure of the building.

A spokesperson however explained that there are currently no film crews or productions in the area.

It's understood that workers are not aware if the renovation work is in preparation for I'm a Celebrity.

ITV and Gwrych Castle are yet to confirm the rumour themselves ahead of the new series this autumn.

Local caravan park, Castle Cove Caravan Park has however has suggested that the speculation is true though.

The park, based in Abergele, shared a message recently with its residents stating that there's "some TV filming being done at Gwrych Castle" in the future.

The message explained that as a result "caravans are required to hire for crew and cast".

Usually filmed in Australia, I'm a Celebrity will be relocated to the UK this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The exact location of the filming hasn't been confirmed yet, but last week attentions turned to Gwrych, which can be found near Abergele.

The castle dates back to 1822 and boasts 300 acres of grounds - which is large enough for production.
