Work on 55 new homes takes a step closer as land sells to Deeley Homes

A total of 55 new homes look set to be built on land to the west of Melton Mowbray.

The residential development site with planning permission for the construction of 55 new properties has been sold to Deeley Homes through land experts Mather Jamie.

The 6.15 acre site lies off Saxelby Road, close to the main thoroughfare of Asfordby, a village three miles west of Melton Mowbray. Planning permission includes a legal agreement that provides for contributions towards secondary education, travel and civic amenities, off-site affordable housing, and more.

The new homes will include 20 properties that will go up for sale on the open market, 25 shared ownership homes and 10 rented homes.

Anthony Holt, group development director at Deeley Homes, said: "This is an exciting project that we expect to bring many advantages and a wealth of property options to the local area. We’re building a mixed scheme that will encompass both affordable housing and market sale properties, and we’ll be working with EMH Homes to ensure that several of the new homes provide a viable housing option for those in need."

Construction is due to commence next spring, with the first homes available towards the end of 2020.

Gary Kirk, associate director at Mather Jamie, said: "Deeley Group secured the acquisition of the site following a competitive marketing process handled by Mather Jamie. We are delighted to have secured the sale of the site, which is fantastic news for the East Midlands, with a range of homes to suit families, first-time buyers and working couples becoming available in the next year and a half. We are very much looking forward to seeing Deeley Homes’ plans come to fruition.”

Asfordby is a well-connected Leicestershire village that links to Melton Mowbray to the east and Lougborough and Nottingham to the west.
