Work begins to improve parking, access at Palmerston shops

Work has begun on upgrades to Palmerston shops aimed to improve access and parking, after traders raised the issued last year.

The $200,000 improvements funded by the ACT government include 26 new car parks, upgrades to footpaths, LED lights to illuminate the area and improved access for cars through new driveways.

The funding announcement came last year after traders and community members raised concerns in June that customers were deserting the shopping centre because of a lack of parking.

The work is due to be completed by August and access to the existing car park should not be affected throughout construction.

The government's 2019-20 budget included funding for additional parking for Cooleman Court, Weston Creek.

The development application for that project is now available for public comment.
