Fan group Wor Flags sent a powerful message to Newcastle boss Steve Bruce as the full-time whistle sounded on an unacceptable performance on the south coast.
‘COWARD’ read one display, below a huge image of Steve Bruce, next to which six more members of the group held a banner that read ‘YOU ARE NOT ONE OF US – LEAVE NOW’.
Just last week the group exclusively told Chronicle Live that ‘There is a feeling we are going to get relegated’.
It is the second time they have made a strong, socially-distant display outside St James’ Park this year following poor performances on the pitch from Newcastle.
‘Act Late, Seal Your Fate’ was the message on their banner after defeat to Aston Villa on January 23, aimed in Mike Ashley’s direction and in reference to his slow response during the 2015-16 relegation season to sack Steve McClaren
Two days before the home game v Wolves, Wor Flags were back outside the entrance to St. James Park with a fresh banner that implored Ashley to ‘Stop Gambling With Our Club’.
Tonight their message was directed clearly at Steve Bruce, demanding he ‘Leave now’.
The image was posted on their Twitter account with the caption ‘Steve Bruce: Accumulation of losses’ in reference to Bruce’s comments about the ‘accumulation of points’ being the key to staying up.
Meanwhile, 300-miles away in Brighton, Bruce was taking “full responsibility” for a devastating defeat to a relegation rival that leaves his team firmly wedged in the battle for survival with zero momentum.
However, he also insisted he will never walk away from the Newcastle hot seat.
