Wor Flags' new display has arrived on Tyneside in time for Newcastle vs Tottenham Hotspur

Wor Flags display for tomorrow's Newcastle United game against Tottenham Hotspur can now go ahead as planned after the new flag arrived just in time.

The group had been frantically working out how to get the new banner from Germany to the UK after a mix-up with the delivery.

However, come Saturday morning, it was confirmed that the important packages were on home soil and heading up Tyneside.

The supporters' group have been working hard all week at St James' Park preparing for their biggest display yet - their first since May 2019, when they walked away in protest of previous owner Mike Ashley.

But with the backing of the new owners and a desire to mark the sale of the club to a Saudi-backed consortium with plans and a vision for the future, the group are back waving their flags.

The display tomorrow which will fly across the Gallowgate will offer a mark of hope about the future of the club - and while Chronicle Live has seen the message on the banner, we're keeping it quiet so as not to spoil the surprise come 4.25 pm on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman from the group told Chronicle Live about the package eventually arriving: "The relief is huge!

"We wanted to make the day a special one, so let’s hope we’ve captured the mood.

"We would like to thank all of the NUFC fans that offered help to make this happen too!

"We had fans from across Europe and also local fans tracking the packages, chasing the courier, offering help to drive it to St James.

"We can’t wait for people to see it, it’s class to be back and again thanks to the Geordie nation."
